The Inland Revenue (IR) data is obtained from a direct integration between myIR and TMNZ. Once you have connectivity, your clients’ IR data will flow straight through to show on the TMNZ dashboard. Follow the steps below to activate this integration.
Please note: If you have an existing IR integration, please follow the re-authentication instructions here.
Log in to the dashboard
In the search bar at the top, go to the Tax Firms tab and select the tax firm which is linked to the clients you would like to connect to myIR. Click on the Integration tab that has now appeared on the left-hand side menu.
Step 1
Choose consent method
To automatically synchronise IR data for your clients you will need to ensure that you hold the necessary consent to share their data with TMNZ. You can gain consent by following either the automatic or manual methods listed below:
Option 1: Automatic Method
This method will use our pre-approved consent form and process.
Select Automatic to proceed.
Proceed to Step 2.
Option 2: Manual Method
In this method you manually connect your IR account with TMNZ using your own letter.
Using the manual method will require you to update one of your legal documents to include a statement about data sharing with TMNZ and may require signoff from IR which will slow down the onboarding process. You cannot connect any taxpayers until they have signed the updated document.
i.
Select Manual to proceed.
ii.
In the first dropdown select which document you will update: Authority to Act, Client Engagement Letter, Terms and Conditions, or Other.
iii.
Choose a statement option:
1. Select Pre-approved statement – Option 1 or Pre-approved statement – Option 2
If you insert a pre-approved statement into your letter of engagement or other document, no additional permission or approval is required by IR and you’ll progress to the next step. Please refer to these examples of consent wording.
or
2. Select Choose your own statement
Choosing your own statement or seeking approval for a statement you already have as part of your letter of engagement / authority to act / general T&Cs will require you to provide a written letter to IR. IR will review your letter and attached example and determine whether it is sufficient to meet the requirement of client consent. Please note this make take a couple of weeks.
iv.
Click Download Template and update the downloaded letterhead or use your own letterhead. Return the completed document to TMNZ by clicking Upload Letter.
v.
You will see Status: Pending until this is approved. The team at TMNZ will review the document and send it to IR for approval. You will be able to check the status in your TMNZ dashboard.
Step 2
Add your Tax Agent, Client List details and authenticate with myIR
The last action is adding the individual client list for authentication with your IR Tax Agent ID and Client List ID. To find where they are, please refer to ‘Where can I find my Tax Agent ID and Client List ID’.
Insert the Tax Agent ID and Client List ID to the respective boxes and click Authorise with myIR.
You’ll be taken to myIR. Please enter your log in details to proceed.
You will be taken back to the TMNZ dashboard, and you’ll see your client list begin downloading.
Click on Show more to see the client list.
How to enable/disable sync for an individual taxpayer
Step 1

Clicking on Save & Complete will take you to the Summary page where you can view or edit more information if required.

You can now enable and disable IR data connection for each individual taxpayer using the toggle.
If you’ve used the Manual Method, this will be your view:
If you have used the automatic consent method, click on Request Consent.
Complete the required Client’s Confirmation Information fields.
After clicking Confirm & Send, the taxpayer’s status will now show as Pending.
The Taxpayer will receive an email. They will need to click on the hyperlinked PDF to give consent.

If you are not seeing Completed, please refresh your page or try logging back in.
You may also download the signed consent.
